Mark 35 common requirements as must, should or could have. Get a prioritised checklist with the question to ask every supplier, ready to download as a spreadsheet and send out.
Works for any supplier. Nothing you choose leaves your browser.
Settle them with IT, HR and compliance before you speak to suppliers, so the shortlist is judged on what matters.
Give three suppliers the same spreadsheet and ask for written answers, so you can compare like for like.
Ask for a trial and upload one of your own SCORM packages. Check that completion, score and pass or fail are recorded.
Before you sign, confirm what you get back if you leave, including completion records with their original dates.

The requirements that matter to your organisation, each marked must, should or could, plus the question you will ask every supplier about it. Cover learners and access, content standards such as SCORM and xAPI, compliance and certificates, reporting, integrations, security and data, branding, support and how you would leave.
For most UK organisations: single sign-on with work accounts, reliable SCORM tracking, reports by person, team and site, certificates with renewal dates, UK GDPR terms with a data processing agreement, and a clear way to export your records if you leave. The rest depends on how you train.
Three is usually enough. Send each the same list, ask for a trial with one of your own courses, and score the answers against your must-haves before you look at price.
Only if you want to track learning outside traditional courses, such as simulations, apps or on-the-job activity. xAPI needs a Learning Record Store, so ask whether one is included. Most compliance training works well with SCORM.
Where data and backups are stored, who can access them and from which countries, whether they will sign a data processing agreement under UK GDPR, which security certifications they hold, and what you get back if you leave.
Yes. A course can meet WCAG while the platform around it does not. Ask for evidence that the platform itself has been tested, and if you are a public sector body, check how it helps you meet the accessibility regulations.
Checked in October 2026. The checklist is a starting point for your own requirements, not legal advice.
Bring your checklist to a demo and we will walk through every must-have: your branding and domain, single sign-on, SCORM tracking, reporting by team and site, and UK hosting.
